    TOSA - Affective Needs Behavioral Interventionist
    1.0 FTE - Limited Term Contract (through 5/27/2022)
    Contracts at .50-1.0 FTE and below 90 days are limited term and do not qualify for annual leave. The salary is BA, Lane A (plus 5% for MA degree, if applicable).

    Summary:
    The Affective Needs Behavioral Specialist TOSA will consult and collaborate with multiple schools and district departments, including Intensive Centers for Affective Needs (ICAN), with the primary focus being on social emotional, behavioral, and academic instruction and intervention for students with disabilities. The Affective Needs Behavioral Specialist will have exceptional interpersonal skills, knowledge and experience in working with students with behavioral and learning needs, effective communication skills, and a collaborative approach to problem solving. The Specialist will provide professional development and training for district staff.
    A BVSD Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will provide leadership and professional development for teachers and administrators in the use of high leverage instructional strategies and assessment tools which have a direct impact on student growth and achievement.
    Responsibilities:
    • Serve as behavioral consultant (including change of placement requests) for special education staff and provide guidance on best practices for behavioral intervention.
    • Instructional and Behavioral Coaching for Intensive Center for Affective Needs (ICAN) programs.
    • Provide Professional Development and training for staff, including Special Education Trauma Informed professional development
    • Provide support and work collaboratively with site leadership in the provision of behavioral best practices for staff.
    • Lead and coordinate peer mentoring programs
    • Collaborate with specialists around district-wide initiatives
    • Consult with Out of district students and liaison with private schools
    • Lead and coordinate behavioral and autism referrals for prekindergarten students.
    • Proactive in Partnership with Student Support Services
    • Monitor and evaluate affective needs program effectiveness and guide improvement processes as needed through the development of procedures and identification of training needs for instructional and paraprofessional staff.
    • Positively impact student achievement through innovative instructional and behavioral strategies
    • Serve as specialist for special education staff providing specialized instruction to students with IEPs
    • Provide support and professional development training to staff related to the development of skills necessary to implement and monitor student instruction progress using district instructional programs, interventions and instructional tools.
    • Monitor and evaluate special education instructional program effectiveness and guide improvement practices as needed through the development of procedures and identification of training needs for instructional and paraprofessional staff.
    • Provide support and work collaboratively with site leadership in the provision of instructional support for special education staff
    • Assist in identification, development, implementation, and reporting of special education instructional performance data
    • Positively impacts student achievement through innovative instructional strategies
    • Values student diversity and support the unique learning needs of each individual student
    • Exhibits a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning
    • Works collaboratively with colleagues, families and community
    • Builds positive relationships and communicate effectively with families
    • Uses inclusive and differentiated instructional practices to support all students
    • Uses data-driven evidence to inform instruction
    • Demonstrates a level of technology proficiency that enhances student learning
    • Contributes to a positive, child centered school culture
    • Follows State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: Special Education or related service license (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
    • Master's Degree in Special Education or related field
    • Experience working in special education with students with Affective Needs
    • Completed and submitted BVSD online application
    Preferred:
    • Current Colorado administrator or principal license
    • Preferred Bilingual (Spanish and English)
    • Experience implementing behavioral best practices
    • Experience as a Special Education Teacher or Special Services Provider
    • Previous experience leading educational initiatives
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external audiences
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Holds a valid Colorado driver’s license
    • Proficient knowledge of Google apps
    Salary Information:
    • Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
